Carol Lipszyc's book of short stories, The Saviour Shoes and Stories, published by Inanna in 2014, presents an arc of historical experience of children during the Holocaust. Carol has published across genres, including: a book of poetry, Singing Me Home, arts-based educational articles in international journals, and a Literacy/ESL Reader with chants, entitled People Express, published by Oxford University Press.
Her anthology of poems on the Heart, The Heart is Improvisational, was published by Guernica in September, 2017 and features, along with Carol's title poem, 80 poems by poets from Canada, U.S. England, Hungary and Portugal. Earning her doctorate in education at OISE, Carol was an Associate Professor at State University of New York, Plattsburgh, teaching English teacher education and writing. She now resides in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada.
Carol also has a professional musical background, having made her debut as a singer on CBC Radio at the age of thirteen. Excerpts of songs she wrote on her CD, "If You Try and Imagine", showcase an interdisciplinary approach to teaching primary junior curriculum with songs and chants.
